Moab, UT - Thanksgiving Get-a-Way

We set out for a new destination this November, Moab, UT.  We were all excited to check out this new place that we've heard is so full of adventure.  10 hour drive on a Sunday and we were there!  Monday Andrew and dad set out early for a mountain bike ride.

When you returned we grabbed lunch and headed into Arches National Park.  We knew the rain was coming and Arches greeted us with a downpour as soon as we got there!

Balancing Rock
Still beautiful covered in clouds and rain
It was sooo cold

We drove the whole park since it was raining to check it out and plan our next day.

Tuesday we set out for a full day...First we hit up Devils Garden / Landscape Arch and was easily planning the longest hike of the day.  We ended up following some guys who then got off trail.  We ended up going back...but still got a couple miles in.  What we saw was just gorgeous.

Then it was off to Sand Dune Arch and the fins.  This was one of my favorites and I was just in awe of the fins.

Found a random arch that we saw people climbing on....we hiked up to it, around it and could not find how to get up.

And we finished our day up with Delicate Arch...the most popular and a hard trek to get there.  All up hill on slickrock.

Even found some Indian petroglyph's on the way down.

Wednesday we started our day in Dead Horse...Dad and Andrew mountain biked and Brandon and I hiked for a couple hours.

We regrouped back at the car ate a quick lunch in the car...it was cold out and then headed into the North end of Canyonlands.

Here we did a couple of super small hikes to points of interest that I didn't get pictures of.  But we did hike up to Mesa Arch

and then finished our day at Upheaval

Thursday Thanksgiving was like no other Thanksgiving we've had before but we were together and that's all that mattered.  We drove an hour south and headed to the south end of canyonlands.  Before entering we stopped at Newspaper Rock which Andrew was completely excited to see and report back to Mrs. Clay.

Once inside Canyonlands we started at Cave Springs first...

then pot hill point...

And our last hike of the trip...slickrock.  At this point we were all exhausted and ready for a nice Thanksgiving meal and call it a day.

We enjoyed a delicious Thanksgiving feast at The Spoke

Brandon you love root beer but here you got to enjoy your first bottled root beer...after your first sip you said you feel like a man.

Andrew you were to kind to write a note to our waiter who served us on Thanksgiving.

What a great trip we had.  Exploring new places and being together is our favorite thing to do.
